The new 2009 calendar, "The Gardens of Chatham" produced by Chatham First, is stunningly beautiful. Twelve gardens from around Chatham have been captured at their peak and shine forth with serenity and simplicity.
This is the third Chatham calendar the non-profit all volunteer group has put together, with the hard work and talent of Betty Camp. Through the generosity of the sponsors, who absorb the total cost of the calendars, all of the profit is able to go to a beautification project for the town of Chatham. The project, launched in 2006 with "The Doors of Chatham" was a great success. The money raised from the sale went to the Chatham Arts Program to provide music instruction scholarships for deserving students.
Last year, the 2008 calendar, "The Churches of Chatham" raised funds for the lighting project at the Historic 1813 Clerk's Office and for the Frances H. Hurt Park. The funds this year are earmarked for the beautification of the town of Chatham. The wonderful sponsors who make this all possible are: American National Bank, Chatham Hall, Chatham Lions Club, Chatham Rotary Club, Columbia Forest Products, Davenport Energy, First Citizens Bank, First Piedmont Corporation, Hargrave Military Academy, H. Victor Milner, Jr., and the Pittsylvania Historical Society.
Calendars will be available starting at the Christmas in Historic Chatham weekend of December 5th and 6th, from most businesses in Chatham, by contacting any Chatham First Member, or by calling
836-1094.
